Warranty Information

AJ Madison is an authorized dealer. All appliances you purchase are protected by the manufacturer warranty.

Most manufacturer warranties cover parts and labor on the appliance for a year. The duration and coverage of a product's warranty depends on the manufacturer.

Though our sales team has up-to-the-minute information on each warranty, you'll also receive your warranty information with either your product or in the mail shortly after we deliver your appliance. Most of the time, manufacturers require you to fill out and mail a warranty form, which will also indicate when the warranty period starts (usually from warranty submission or purchase). For some products on the AJ Madison site, we have the warranty form under the "Info & Guides" tab on the product page.

AJ Madison also offers extended warranties that cover parts and labor for appliances (excluding commercial products, sinks, faucets and a few other items) up to five years, while most manufacturers' extended warranties just cover parts. These extended warranties are offered by a third-party called AllState. AllState's warranty extends the manufacturer's warranty for a designated period of time. For example, if your warranty covered in-home parts-and-labor, the AllState warranty would feature the same coverage. It's a great investment if you want to completely cover your appliance beyond the initial warranty cycle. You can purchase the AllState Protection Plan by clicking the "AllState" logo on the product page and selecting the plan that suits your needs.

Never make after-market alterations to your appliances that would void your warranty; the manufacturer will usually state what they consider voiding their warranty in the written agreement.

Always save copies of warranty documents and your original proof of purchase, since both are vital for proper and swift service under warranty.

Most of all, be safe in the kitchen. Take care of your appliances and perform light maintenance. Hopefully, you will never have to use your warranty, but it's great to have in case you need it.

Energy Star Appliances

Our Energy Star Center includes all Energy Star-qualified appliances including washers, dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, air purifiers and dehumidifiers. Certain appliances, like ranges, are not Energy Star-certified because of the large amount of energy they consume. The government-run Energy Star program identifies and labels energy-efficient appliances and other products to encourage energy conservation. Like Energy Star, the Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE) promotes energy-efficient products and technologies. The CEE further defines appliance energy ratings by assigning tiers appropriate to energy usage. The three tiers are determined by the percentage that the product is more efficient than the federal standard; the higher the tier, the more efficient the appliance. Energy Star/CEE appliances are tested to verify they provide significant energy savings nationwide, while still delivering the features and performance you expect.

Each Energy Star-qualified appliance on AJ Madison has an Energy Guide label that we display in the "Info and Guides" tab on our product pages. You not only help reduce greenhouse gas emissions when purchasing Energy Star/CEE certified products, but you can reduce your yearly operating cost for these appliances. An Energy Star washer can net you $55 in yearly savings; that's more than $600 over the lifespan of the appliance! Also, you can earn additional money off with state rebates, manufacturer rebates and tax credits. The more energy-efficient appliances you buy, the more you save.

Energy Star refrigerators are built to use less water and energy and meet strict energy efficiency requirements determined by the EPA and the U.S. Department of Energy. Energy Star refrigerators use 20% less energy than non-qualified models and cut your energy bills by around $165 over the lifetime of your refrigerator. Energy Star refrigerators also reduce overall impact on the environment. Learn more about saving energy with your refrigerator purchase with these energy tips.

Choosing an Energy Star qualified room air conditioner can save you an average of $75 over the lifetime of the machine. Energy Star ACs use at least 10% less energy than standard models, as they often employ more features such as timers, digital displays, remote controls and directional vents to use the minimum amount of energy to cool your room. Learn more about saving energy with your AC purchase with these energy tips.

__How to Calculate Yearly Operating Cost __

For Refrigerators and Freezers, Dishwashers and Clothes Washers:
Estimated annual operating cost = Annual Energy Consumption (in kWh/yr) X $.1065

For Air Conditioners:
Estimated Annual Operating Cost = Capacity/ EER X 750 hours X $ .1065

Or just check our Energy Info tab on select product pages, where we do the math for you.

Certain appliances, like ranges and dryers, are not Energy Star-certified because of the large amount of energy they consume. However, the FTC has a purchasing guide to help you save the most energy with these devices.

Shop by Brand

Each brand brings its own strengths to the table, whether it be a distinct look or features that separate it from the competition. Even within brands there are series (and even sub-series!) that offer specific flourishes and features. Looking for high end ranges where “special” features are standard and the true value is in the build and construction? Blue-Star, Capital, and American Range are for you. Maybe you want a sound device that give you more bang for your buck, then you can look into Frigidaire, LG, and the like to fill this niche. Check out our comprehensive brand list here to learn about each brand and see which resonates with you the most.

Tips before you buy

__Pre-Purchasing Tips __
There are several things you should check before buying an appliance. Take advantage of our comprehensive site to check model specifications and installation guides or call our appliance experts at 800-570-3355 for more information. Here are some other tips so you can be ready to go after you make your purchase.

Before deciding on the model that you will buy, carefully measure the area in which your appliance will be placed. It's also good to measure all doors and areas that the appliance will need to travel through before it reaches its final destination. We offer pre-delivery surveys. Please call to speak with an appliance expert for pricing and more information.

It is equally important to know if you're house or apartment needs gas or electric connections. Also, check to see what the correct voltage and the plug type of the outlet that you will be using before purchase.

Please review the required parts for each product so you know what cables and accompanying accessories you will need for the appliance and if they are sold separately. Note: Many electric ranges and electric clothes dryers do not come with plugs and have to be purchased separately.

When placing an order please add any special delivery instructions in the delivery notes section of checkout. Include information such as how many floors the item will have to be carried up and any other information our delivery team will need to know. This will ensure quick, hassle-free delivery.

Start thinking about how you will assemble and install your appliance and what kind of services you might need to help you. We offer installation services in New York and New Jersey and can refer an installer in most other locations

Energy Saving Tips

  1. Choose a refrigerator with an external ice & water dispenser, to greatly reduce opening the fridge to retrieve those items.
  2. Purchase a Bottom Mount or French Door refrigerator as these models use, on average, 16% less energy than side by side models (according the consumer energy center).
  3. Choose a refrigerator that has a manual defrost, as they use half the energy of an automatic defrost model. This does come with a tradeoff, as the manual unit will need regular servicing.
  4. Make sure your refrigerator is sealed tight, if air is escaping the compressor is working harder than it needs to. Look for units that have a door open/temperature alarm as a feature, they will audibly alert you if something is wrong.
  5. Look for the ENERGY STAR ® label on your appliance, as it guarantees it falls within energy efficient guidelines
  1. Proper installation is the most important way to keep an AC energy efficient. If it is not properly sealed at its borders cool air is constantly escaping, and the compressor is working harder to keep the room at the desired set temperature.
  2. Take advantage of your AC’s timer and programming functions. Set them for appropriate times to reduce continuous usage and reduce energy consumption.
  3. Clean your AC’s filter regularly, a dirty filter restricts air flow and makes the unit work harder than it needs to. Most AC’s will have a check filter feature to inform you when it needs to be cleaned.
  4. Turn off the AC when no one is the room. If you want the room to not be too hot upon returning, leave it running at higher temperature setting to reduce energy usage.
